Insanely beautiful.

When You Finally Remember

24 Feb

You know those times when you just can’t remember the name of a group. It’s there crazily present, but still so far away. The songs exist like some familiar memory, but not familiar enough for you the be able to even sing a tone. I’ve carried such a burden for years. These guys are a group that I used to listen to a lot in high school. My strongest memory is that it was one of the things I could relate to with a guy in my class. A guy with whom I didn’t have a lot in common with. But with this group, we could feel some kind of fellowship. It was always possible to lean back and talk about this group if there was nothing else to say.

Anyhow, since my graduation in 2005, I haven’t listen to them. They kind of disappeared with my mini disc. Saved on my parents computer and forgotten when I moved out. It has taken me since then to remember. Obviously I haven’t actively tried to find out who they are, but from time to time this distant memory of a long lost music love has come to the surface. So incredibly annoying that they haven’t made themselves known – until yesterday. Who knows why, but all of a sudden the name just popped in to my head. Creed. Yes, it’s actually quite far from what I listen to nowadays. But with all the nostalgia and joy of finally opening that closed box in my head I’ve spent hours listening to One Last Breath and some other songs. Still find that one quite beautiful. Surprisingly I still know the lyrics.

I’ll even share this, incredibly silly (but oh so serious), music video with you. I’m totally high on nostalgia, and the video is at least a good laugh.

2011: the Year of Music

20 Feb

2011 is all about music. So many awesome record releases already; Cut Copy, Radiohead, Mogwai, Bright Eyes, Isloée (and so many more!) With a start like this, I wonder where this can possibly end! It feels like it’s only gonna get better.

Another thing that’s making me overly excited is the amazing spring packed with concerts I have ahead! This week I went to Bright Eyes on Debaser Medis in Stockholm. It was a really good concert. Amazing with all the love from the audience. Such a mix of people as well. The audience consisted of all from 16 year old emo kids to 60 year old businessmen. Awesome. And Conor Oberst really gave it all. He definitely seems to love being on stage. This is a typical concert that is perfect in a small place like Debaser Medis, the intimacy between Bright Eyes and their audience is what makes it so special. The highlight of the evening was when Conor sang the song Lua together with the warm up band First Aid Kit (two extremely talented girls with voices to die for). That was a truly magic moment.

Concerts coming up this spring are amazing. Next one is the Gothenburg duo JJ, playing here in Norrköping! I was so excited buying the tickets I was almost shaking. I’ve got great expectations for this concert, don’t doubt a second they will meet them and probably go beyond them.
After this we have, oh yes this is true – CUT COPY! Anyone who’s read anything on this blog knows how much I like Cut Copy, and now I’m finally gonna see them! 11th of March on Strand in Stockholm.

Yesterday I was also about to faint when I saw that my two other favorite australian musicians are coming here this spring as well! ANGUS & JULIA STONE, playing at Nalen in Stockholm on the 18th of May. Sweet! That’ll be a very special. I had to, like with JJ and Cut Copy, buy the tickets before I knew if anyone would come with me. But since I have friends with an extremely good taste in music; they do.

Ok, well. Enough with all the swaggering. I’m just so excited, 2011 couldn’t have started in any better way! (also have a trip to London and one to Berlin behind me this year). There’re so many concert I won’t go to unfortunately, like Mogwai and Hercules and Love Affair on Debaser Medis. I need to hold on to a little of that money, so that the summer will be just as amazing as the spring!

So last but not least. One thing that’s not new for 2011, but new for me! I just found the band Bruce Peninsula and I’m loving it! Beautiful, emotional and highly addictive.

Check them out on Spotify or Myspace.

Make sure you don’t miss out on all the great concerts ahead! Check Luger for some great tips!

Lots of love!

Australian and Kiwi Films on the Schedule

25 Jan

If you have read my blog before you probably know that I’m a big fan of music from Australia and New Zealand, groups like Cut Copy and The Naked and The Famous are some of my favorites. Talking about film though, I’ve seen very little from these two countries. It might be time to sort that out. What I’ve heard there are some real jewels. One called The Castle (Imdb) was repeatedly recommended by Australian friends. From New Zealand there are also some real good ones, I absolutely love the classic Once Were Warriors (Imdb); and I would recommend anyone to see it!

The other week I saw a film with Clive Owen, about a family that faces a very unfortunate destiny. It’s a beautiful narration of a dad who becomes a single parent. The film is called The Boys Are Back (2009) and it’s definitely worth a watch.

Anyhow, there’s also another film on Bio Harlekinen here in Norrköping that I’d love to see. It’s called The Tree and it’s a French/Australian production. The story is quite similar to The Boys Are Back, only this time it’s a mother and her children’s grief after the tragic loss of her husband.

Trailer for Hela Havet Stormar

24 Jan

Today is a very exciting day indeed! The first trailer for the film Hela havet stormar is finished!

The film has been produced within a local talent development project called Eastwood, and is one of the three productions of 2010-2011! A very talented friend of mine, Anna Häll, is the director and the short film, which is a children’s movie, will be shown prior to ordinary screenings on Bio Harlekinen in Norrköping after its premiere on March 4th!

The film was produced outside of the city of Norrköping during the fall of 2010 and it was quite an intense working period! I worked on the production as the script supervisor and got the privilege to work with some really talented people! It was truly an experience, first time working on a slightly larger film production, and this one including both kids and animals (known to be a big no, no – right?). Anyhow, it’s extremely exciting to see the trailer, since I haven’t seen any of the material since the recording during the fall! Really look forward to the premiere and the final result!

So, check out the trailer! (Unfortunately I have to link you to the Facebook page.)

Infidels Of The World Unite

20 Jan

Always good with some Fisherspooner! Even better when it’s been remixed by Mustard Pimp!
This remix makes my flat the coolest club in town. (No, there’s not many cool clubs in town.)

The Springtime Revival

20 Jan

Seriously my Christmas Countdown must have been the lamest ever. I do appologize for that, honestly I don’t even know why I tried! This blog is for writing when inspired, not when forced to. But anyway, it’s a new year and many cool things ahead!

I’ve already been on a trip to London visiting a couple of friends, tried to take some nice pictures with my new SLR, but I think I was walking around with a constant hangover. It clearly didn’t help my creativity. I’m going to Berlin in a couple of weeks to see one of the European capitals that I’ve only heard good things about and also to visit a festival called Transmediale. It most definitely will be good for the creativity to surround oneself with innovative and impressive new media, performances and awesome music!

Check it out on their homepage, transmediale.de

I will finally start going to gigs again as well! The awesome group Den Svenska Björnstammen next week, Bright Eyes on Debaser Medis in Stockholm on the 16th of February and my favorites Cut Copy on Strand in Stockholm on the 11th of March!! Awesome times!

Except this, I will actually create something else than hangovers for myself too. We’re working on a music video for the unsigned group Sunset Sailors, and I will also work with the cover for their first EP. Really exciting!
I’m also working with another really interesting project, that will go on until July-August together with a mexican electro group called Girl is Tough. THAT will be awesome! I’ll let you know more about this soon!

So, the blog has been a bit quiet because life hasn’t! But, I’ll try an update it with all the cool stuff ahead!

Until then, a little list of the music obsessions of the week:

CocoRosie – Fairy Paradise (spotify)
La Fleur Fatale – I Wanna Be Adored (Spotify)
Active Child – When Your Love is Safe (Spotify)
Cut Copy – Time Stand Still (Spotify)
