2011 is all about music. So many awesome record releases already; Cut Copy, Radiohead, Mogwai, Bright Eyes, Isloée (and so many more!) With a start like this, I wonder where this can possibly end! It feels like it’s only gonna get better.
Another thing that’s making me overly excited is the amazing spring packed with concerts I have ahead! This week I went to Bright Eyes on Debaser Medis in Stockholm. It was a really good concert. Amazing with all the love from the audience. Such a mix of people as well. The audience consisted of all from 16 year old emo kids to 60 year old businessmen. Awesome. And Conor Oberst really gave it all. He definitely seems to love being on stage. This is a typical concert that is perfect in a small place like Debaser Medis, the intimacy between Bright Eyes and their audience is what makes it so special. The highlight of the evening was when Conor sang the song Lua together with the warm up band First Aid Kit (two extremely talented girls with voices to die for). That was a truly magic moment.
Concerts coming up this spring are amazing. Next one is the Gothenburg duo JJ, playing here in Norrköping! I was so excited buying the tickets I was almost shaking. I’ve got great expectations for this concert, don’t doubt a second they will meet them and probably go beyond them.
After this we have, oh yes this is true – CUT COPY! Anyone who’s read anything on this blog knows how much I like Cut Copy, and now I’m finally gonna see them! 11th of March on Strand in Stockholm.
Yesterday I was also about to faint when I saw that my two other favorite australian musicians are coming here this spring as well! ANGUS & JULIA STONE, playing at Nalen in Stockholm on the 18th of May. Sweet! That’ll be a very special. I had to, like with JJ and Cut Copy, buy the tickets before I knew if anyone would come with me. But since I have friends with an extremely good taste in music; they do.
Ok, well. Enough with all the swaggering. I’m just so excited, 2011 couldn’t have started in any better way! (also have a trip to London and one to Berlin behind me this year). There’re so many concert I won’t go to unfortunately, like Mogwai and Hercules and Love Affair on Debaser Medis. I need to hold on to a little of that money, so that the summer will be just as amazing as the spring!
So last but not least. One thing that’s not new for 2011, but new for me! I just found the band Bruce Peninsula and I’m loving it! Beautiful, emotional and highly addictive.
